Full-Mouth Dental Rehabilitation

Depending on the patient’s needs, this type of treatment will involve many teeth and may require restoring all of the teeth. Full-mouth dental rehabilitation is typically performed in progressive phases and usually requires multiple appointments. There are a variety of options for dental rehabilitation and your doctor will discuss which restorative dentistry solution is best for you.

Dental implants are one of the most exciting technologies in dentistry. In the past, missing teeth were often replaced with removable partial dentures. In contrast, dental implants are a more permanent, non-removable solution for replacing missing teeth. Anywhere from one tooth to an entire arch of teeth may be replaced with dental implants.

During your Comprehensive Dental Exam, Dr. Beckel and Dr. Robbins will assess you for dental implants as part of your dental rehabilitation. We have a team of trusted specialists who will surgically place the dental implants.

Once the implant(s) are placed, we will then monitor your healing and progress throughout the duration of your treatment. Next we will place your crown or implant a retained denture, depending on your customized treatment plan. Dental implants are the most permanent solution for replacing missing teeth; however, the process of placement for any dental restoration will require several months.

Dental crowns, dental bridges, and dentures are three of the most common solutions for decayed, broken, or missing teeth. At Stone Oak Aesthetic Dentistry, we take the time to assess each patient’s individual wants and needs during the Comprehensive Dental Exam and Aesthetic Diagnosis. Although dental crowns, bridges, and dentures perform some of the same functions, they are three distinct solutions.

Dental Crowns and Bridges

A dental crown, which is one type of dental restoration solution, is placed over an existing tooth; it looks, feels and functions like a natural tooth. Crowns may be used to restore one tooth or many teeth. A crown may be a restorative solution if the tooth is decayed, broken, root canal-treated or discolored. The tooth will be shaved and shaped to prepare it to receive the crown. If significant tooth structure has been removed due to decay, the dctor will build up the tooth structure to create retention for the crown. Impressions will be taken and sent to a laboratory to fabricate your permanent crown. During this time your doctor will create a temporary crown to protect the tooth.

Lastly, the permanent crown is bonded or cemented directly over the existing tooth structure. Crowns can also be used for replacement of missing teeth once a dental implant has been placed. Many patients worry that their friends or colleagues will be able to tell they have a dental crown, but today’s technology ensures an incredibly natural-looking smile.

A dental bridge fills the gap created by one or more missing teeth. It is made of two or more crowns covering the teeth on either side of the gap (these anchoring teeth are called abutment teeth) and a false tooth/teeth between them, known as a pontic. Also like crowns, dental bridges are supported by natural teeth or implants.
